Love & Theft

Completely Mesmerizing. I love the morphing and the music fits perfectly with the animations.

Giessen Germany

This is a beautiful photograph from the railway in the town where I started my school education

I remember a little about living there, but mostly remember walks with my oma & ompa. I recall one specific occasion when we were walking, I had just gotten my first cane (everyone had one at this point in time) and we stopped at a watering trough where you had to pump the water from a cistern handle to get a drink and some very elderly woman came screaming at us to not touch the water there as it was poisoned.

Ooma was frightened enough that she grabbed my hand and off we went. I was naturally curious, but unafraid as a child but this old woman terrified me. I'll never forget it. Much later in the day we laughed about her being such a horrible person for not just telling us politely, and I got cookies from oompa after we shared the story with him.

It was an incredibly happy time in my life.

I like time lapse photography, but this one really struck me as exceptionally gorgeous.

Tiramisu Cupcakes

Cupcake Recipe:

1 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs (separated)
1/4 cup strong coffee (or a shot of espresso)
1 Tbsp Kahlua
3/4 cup sugar
additional pinch of salt (to stiffen egg whites)
extra kahlua

Preheat Oven to 350F

Mix flour, baking powder, and salt, then set aside

Beat the egg yolks with coffee and Kahlua until really thick and creamy. Slowly at 1/2 cup of the sugar, beating continually. Set aside.

Beat the egg whites with salt until they start to form moist peaks and gradually beat in the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar. Continue beating until the eggs whites are stiff but not dry. Stir 3 tablespoons of the whites into the yolk mixture. Slowly fold dry ingredients into mixture then, when everything has been absorbed, gently fold in the remaining whites.

Spoon the batter into cupcake tins. Bake for about 12- 15 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Mascarpone Cream:

2 egg yolks
3 tsp sugar
1 TBsp Kahlua
1 cup mascarpone
More Kahlua
Grated dark or semi-sweet chocolate (Garnish)

Beat egg yolks with sugar until they are light and fluffy. Beat in Kahlua. Slowly add mascarpone, beating continually.

Before adding cream to the cupcake, drizzle the cooled cupcakes with a lot of kahlua.
Then pile on the cream, drizzle with more kahlua (if desired), and sprinkle the chocolate shavings.

Serve & Enjoy

World Photography Day

World Photography Day originates from the invention of the Daguerreotype, a photographic processes developed by Louis Daguerre.  On January 9, 1839, The French Academy of Sciences announced the daguerreotype process. A few months later, on August 19, 1839, the French government announced the invention as a gift “Free to the World.”
Another photographic processes, the Calotype, was also invented in 1839 by William Fox Talbot (it was announced in 1841). Together, the invention of both the Daguerreotype and Calotype mark 1839 as the year that photography was invented.

World Photography Day

I don't have a single favorite photograph as my tastes in everything are so eclectic that I tend to fall in love with many different things depending on a variety of things going on at a particular moment in my life.

I've always loved photographs using lighting to highlight a particular object or viewpoint, especially if done at night.

They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and this is especially true when I am looking at things, as there are things I find truly inspiring and beautiful or cause incredible emotions that others think are plain, or ordinary or even ugly.

Here are a few that I have been sent.

My Time

Are you afraid of the dark?

I’m in love with the darkness.

It is quiet.

Pure.

Cleansing.

The daylight has been put to bed,
And the night is open for exploration.
